In banking competitive exams, the English section is
getting more significance and also becoming tougher. It is because proficiency
in English language is considered to be primary requisite for becoming a

The most helpful strategy to prepare for Reading
Comprehension section is to develop good reading skills. It is because good
reading skills will help you in reading and understanding comprehension passage
quickly and so you will be able to solve questions accurately. For developing
good reading skills, you should become regular reader of hi-quality English literature
which should primarily consist of daily English newspapers, books, novels etc. In
Reading Comprehension section, you are given a passage and questions are asked
from it. If you have to solve them correctly then it’s important to understand
the crux, gist and theme of the passage. So, for developing good understanding
do read note-worthy articles from daily newspapers and then try to understand
its theme, topic and subject.

The selected passage from the newspapers and
magazines has to be about current affairs, social issue, political happening,
and banking or financial issues etc. Do remember one thing that answers lies
within the passage and so no external information should be applied, while
answering questions. In multiple choice questions, you can use elimination
method but do avoid wild guessing. Do not spend too much time on complicated
questions. Do focus on typical words and it’s usage in the sentences. If you
have good observation then you will understand a variety of new words with
their meanings. It will also help you in building good vocabulary strength. You
should try to learn at least 25 to 30 words difficult words with their synonyms

Jumbles are either passage based or on predefined sentence. So, let us discus
important tips to solve questions based on this topic and these tips are: -

depict numbers, dates, places or names.
2. While arranging them appropriately, you should always try
to look for the reasonable interpretation between them.
3. In questions based on Para Jumbles with predefined
sentences, there is high probability that sentence that need to arrange is a
supporting statement.

questions.

Grammar
This section is designed to test candidate’s English
Grammatical Knowledge. It is important to become proficient in concepts of
every topic. This section is mainly comprised of Error Spotting, Fill in the
blank (double) and phrase replacements.
a.
Error Spotting
In questions based on Error Spotting, the candidates are
supposed the whole sentence properly to spot the error. The candidates can also
use the verb-subject agreement to solve questions. If you still are unable to
answer the question then read the sentence in small portion and try to
understand the tense in relation to the subject and object.
b. Close Test
In these questions, the candidates will be provided with
one paragraph with few blanks. The students should fill the blanks with
appropriate words to make the paragraph look meaningful. The candidates can
generally spot the right words easily within the context of the sentences, if
they have good grammatical knowledge. The candidates can too use the
elimination method as it has proved useful in solving few questions.
c.
Fill in the blank (Double)
In the given question, the candidates will be given a
statement with two blanks and two answers for each blank. The candidates are
supposed to choose the best combination of words to fill in the blanks. The
chosen words should sound suitable in the given context and should make proper
sense.
