What should be the exam preparation strategy for SSC CGL 2019 for a one month?

Let us discuss section-wise study strategy for SSC CGL TIER 1 exam.


1. Quantitative Ability Section

This section comprises of 25 questions, where there will 11-12 questions from Arithmetic, 7-8 questions from Geometry & Trigonometry and the remaining 3-4 questions will be from Algebra. In the first week, one can start with Arithmetic which has topics like Ratio, Percentage, Averages, Time Speed Distance, Time and Work, Profit & Loss, Interest. In the second week, one can prepare Geometry and Trigonometry. In the third week, one is required to prepare Algebra (Equations), along with available topics like Progressions and Simplification. It will augment your word power and improve your grammatical skills. This section includes cloze test, sentence improvement, antonyms synonyms; fill in the blanks and other similar topics. In the first week, you should thoroughly revise all the grammar rules which include tenses, voice, articles, prepositions, subject verb agreement and punctuation. In the second week, you must practice and understand active passive voice, direct indirect speech, cloze test, error spotting, sentence improvement and grammar-based fill in the blanks. In the third week, enhance your vocabulary to attempt questions on Antonym Synonyms, Idioms, Phrases, and Spellings etc. In the last week, take as many topic tests and mock tests you can take to know your learning and understanding. It will ease your tension as you will perform better than what you were before the preparation

3. Reasoning Ability Section

To attempt questions of Reasoning Ability section, one should practice hard to achieve excellence. In first week, candidates can prepare Analogies (both numerical and verbal), Syllogisms, coding decoding. In the second week, let us do the concepts based on Odd one out, Alphabetical & Numerical Series, Missing terms. In the third week, it is advisable to aim on the concepts like Blood Relations, Direction sense, Arrangements. In the fourth week, the students should sincerely endeavor as much as mock tests to polish their knowledge and understanding.



4. General Awareness Section

This section is mostly based on static General Knowledge and Current Affairs. It is highly scoring section where one can easily attempt at least twenty questions in five minutes. In the first week, prepare topics like Science, Indian Polity, and Sports. In the second week, learn topics like Geography, Economics, Books and authors. In the third week, take up topics like History, Computer Awareness while prepare the remaining topics and revise the entire syllabus in the fourth week. There is no need for any mock test or topic test in this case as you need to revise the static GK thoroughly and current affairs till the end.
